"When Mother Nature
saw fit to remove the tail of the Manx, she left, in place of the
tail, more cat." --Mary Stewart
Dear Gale,
I can't describe how much
I love Karma. She has FAR exceeded even my grandest expectations (she
is sitting on my lap right now and sleeps with me all night and loves
my face to death!). She did great on the trip and has been the most
unbelievingly loving companion! She is SO fond of kissing and kissing
and kissing and purring and purring and purring. She is also quite funny
and amazingly curious. She started fetching in the hotel room, but seemed
to get over that fast. She had no problems on the trip or here, although
she isn't fond of that carry-on bag (I, however LOVE it). I will send
it later this week -- and still need to find it on the internet -- I
MUST get myself one of those.
Karma is little miss personality
-- even my friend from DC was considering getting a kitten because of
Karma until her eyes started itching....too bad....she has already written
an email asking how HER kitten is doing...
You are an amazing den mother. Thanks so much for raising my kitten
so well. Quite the gift you have. Never quit.

week after their adoption.

Hi Gale,
Jim and I are enjoying Bo and Abby more each day. They are settling
in quite nicely, eating well and even sleeping together on the cat bed
we put in the living room. Abby doesn't seem to be overeating (not yet
anyway) and Bo is getting to the food when she wants. Both cats drink
ample amounts of water and their hair coats are sleek and glossy.
We can't believe how much these cats like to play with their toys! Bo
especially seems to enjoy playing, and she will come and ask us to play
with her now. Their favorite toys are the furry mice; I found two new
mice with real long tails and the girls promptly took to throwing them
around and kicking at the tails with their hind feet.
They are extremely well-behaved whether there is a house full of people
or no one is at home. They seem to know where to scratch and where not
to scratch; where to climb on and where not to climb on; when to be
active and when not to be active. It is very evident that you spent
a great deal of time and energy raising these cats the right way. Both
of us have really come to care for Bo and Abby a great deal, and we
believe they are the best pets we have ever owned. Our friends can't
get over how pretty and well-mannered they are. The highlight of our
day is to come home from work and have them greet us at the door.
Thank you so much for letting us have Bo and Abby. More and more we
realize why you are so attached to them. They have a marvelous way of
touching human hearts, especially with their curious faces and sweet
soft meows.
We are trying to tell as many of our friends as possible about getting
older/retiree cats. It is one of the best pet ownership decisions we've
ever made. We will continue to keep you posted on Bo and Abby's progress.
Regards,
Connie & Jim
Dear Gale,
Brutus continues to thrive, and to rule the roost very subtly. Noblesse
oblige, you know. He now has four in-house siblings -- a Tonkinese,
a gorgeous silver tabby, and two Vans. All have tails, but he
pays that no mind. No one is perfect, sez he. Happily for all
of us, I continue to be his person of choice, but when he's not near
the girl he loves, he loves the girl he's near, whether she be human,
feline, or teddy bear. A really first-class act, that cat!
Bonnie, his mother, has
become the wallpaper and the screensaver (in cubes) on my PC at work,
where she has earned great admiration from passing visitors. I cannot
believe that the Brute is 6 years old already. It was just six years
this week that we picked him up in New Milford. What a treat he has
been for me. He has the loudest, deepest rumbly purr of any cat I've
ever had, and that has become a nightly lullaby for me.
I remember the adoption process vividly, and how eager I was to meet
him. I felt almost as though I were pregnant! Then, upon arrival at
your home, he was sitting in the front window next to the door, and
when we came into the house he was totally indifferent. But Paula was
driving, and Brutus and I took the opportunity to bond in the car en
route home, and it has been a totally loyal relationship ever since.
He loves to tease, when I am busy reading in the evening. If he can't
get my attention, he climbs into Paula's lap and watches me to see if
I am going to react. If I do, he's next to me in a shot. And then
there's the "I think I'll make them think I'm about to scratch the sofa
look" -- putting his front paws up on the front of the sofa, arching
his back, and looking at us for reaction. At night he and Bird (the
Tonk) vie for closest position to me for three minutes or so before
they settle down, usually with Bird against my tummy and Brutie snuggling
against my thigh. Then the competitive purring begins. And we are a
happy threesome once more.
Our best regards to you, and to Bonnie and any other relatives who may
be about.
